Saltwater Stories

Saltwater Country is excited to announce a new opportunity for the Kimberley community!!

We are partnering with Goolarri Media and Agunya to capture the excitement and passion of our young people at RHYTHM & RIDE 2019 who are building on the legacy left of our Aboriginal stock men and women from the region.

SALTWATER STORIES is an innovate new project that will deliver a sophisticated and authentic media product whilst providing an interactive experience in production and direction for the young people involved, building capacity and transferrable skills in local young Aboriginal people.

SALTWATER STORIES will tell the story of Kimberley Aboriginal People, the pastoral way of life and the thrill of rodeo through video, photography, sound, lighting and production. Providing an opportunity for elders and young people to interact and enjoy RHYTHM & RIDE through shared experience.

Offering both accredited creative training opportunities and free form creative exploration SALTWATER STORIES will tell the stories of our community through young Aboriginal people’s eyes.

It will culminate in an exhibition free for the community and a book to commemorate the project, available to purchase to raise money and awareness for Saltwater Country Development.

If you are a young Aboriginal person from the Kimberley and would like to register your interest go to and tell us in 25 words or less why you would like to be a part of SALTWATER STORIES to learn creative skills, tell our story and yours.

Proudly supported by the Indigenous Languages and Arts Programme through the Department of Communications and the Arts.
